Nacosti staff members led by Mr. Kalrewa presenting a cheque donor for Ksh .250,000 to Kenya Medical Association (KMA) national chairman Dr Elly Nyaim.  The Kenya Medical Association (KMA) is seeking to raise Sh100 million through corporate organisations for their ‘Children for Children Cancer Campaign’. The campaign by KMA follows alarming trends on cancer prevalence in Kenya, which calls for concerted efforts between the government, private sector and heath sector stakeholders. Cancer is now reported to be the third highest cause of illness in Kenya after infectious and cardiovascular diseases. It is estimated that 28,000 new cases of cancer are reported each year in Kenya with more than 22,000 deaths annually. 60 per cent of Kenyans affected by cancer are younger than 70 years old, with 70-80 per cent of cancer cases diagnosed in late stages. This worrying situation is causing a major burden for families, organizations and the health system. ...

Dear Esteemed partners National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation wishes to notify the general public that the Designation for NACOSTI CEO has changed from secretary to Director General through a miscellaneous Amendment Act 2014 of 24th November 2014(special Issue). Hence forth the CEO will be reffered to as the Director General. In the same gazette notice, amendments were made as to who should apply for the research permit.... This is what was in the ACT LI CENSING OF RESEARCH 12. (1) Subject to the provisions of any other law, a person shall not undertake scientific research in Kenya without obtaining a licence under this Act (2) Subsection (1) shall not apply to a person conducting scientific research under a university or a research institution programme. ....The word "under" has been deleted and substituted with 'Within" ..Universirty while the "a" before research insituition has been deleted and substituted ...
