CALL FOR RECRUITMENT OF QUALITY ASSURANCE AND
STANDARDS EXPERTS
BACKGROUND
The National Commission for
Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) is a body Corporate established by
the Science, Technology and Innovation Act, No. 28 of 2013 (ST&I Act). Further, NACOSTI has prepared and is implementing the ST&I Regulations, 2014. The mandate of NACOSTI is to regulate and assure quality in the science, technology and innovation
sector and advise the Government in matters related thereto.
In
order to effectively undertake its mandate in line with the ST&I Act and
the ST&I Regulations 2014, NACOSTI, seeks to recruit Quality
Assurance and Standards experts. The
Quality Assurance and Standards experts are expected to:
- Provide technical advice to the Vetting Committee for Registration and/or Accreditation of Research Institutes,
- Make appropriate recommendations to the Vetting Committee for registration/accreditation or otherwise of Research Institutions,
- Participate during inspection, monitoring and evaluation of research programmes and facilities for accreditation by the Vetting Committee,
- Keep abreast with developments in their areas of expertise on matters of research, science, technology and innovation,
- Undertake regular professional development in their areas of specialization including those identified by the Commission,
- Abide by the ST&I Act and Regulations governing registration and accreditation of Research Institutes, and
- Undertake any other task on Registration, Accreditation and Quality Assurance as may be assigned by the Commission.
REQUIREMENTS
Interested
candidates should be:
- Working in an institution that undertakes research, and/or teaching in universities recognized in Kenya.
- Hold at least a master’s degree from a recognized university in Kenya
- Be a member in good standing of a Professional Organization where applicable
- Have at least 10 years of relevant experience
Interested
candidates should submit their applications with an abridged CV not exceeding 4
pages of 1.5 spacing of Times New Romans font type and a list of five latest publications
in referred Journals. The applicants should also indicate their preferred areas
of consideration.
