AFRA FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION



NACOSTI hosts the office of the AFRA National Coordinator that coordinates all AFRA projects in the Kenya. Within the framework of the implementation of AFRA project _RAF9056 - Strengthening Education and Training in Radiation Safety and Sustaining Human Resources Development and Nuclear Knowledge Management (AFRA), We hereby requested for a qualified candidates to undertake the next session (2016/20a18) of the Masters' Degree Programme in Nuclear Science and Technology organized under the African Regional Cooperative Agreement (AFRA).

The proposed two-year Masters training programme will be hosted by the established AFRA Regional Designated Centres for Higher and Professional Education in the African region, namely the School of
Nuclear and Allied Sciences (SNAS) of the University of Ghana and the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Engineering of the University of Alexandria, Egypt where two Kenyans have already been trained on the same programme.

The  criteria for the selection of the candidate for this programme are the following:
  •   Candidates should have a Bachelor Degree (BSc) in Science, Physics or Chemistry;
  •    Candidates should submit a copy of their BSc degree and University transcripts with their application forms;
  • Candidates should complete the attached application form of the AFRA Fellowship Programme;    
  • Candidates should be 35 years old at the start of the training programme;
  •  Candidates should be citizens of the nominating AFRA Member State;
  •  Candidates should submit a medical certificate from a certified physician confirming their physical fitness to undertake the course of study; If fellowship is granted, the candidate will submit another medical certificate prior to departing for training;
  • Candidates should show evidence of bonding to go back to work in
    his/her country;
  • Candidates who are undergoing an IAEA fellowship training (short orlong term) or have accepted fellowship award will not be considered;
  •  Applications from female candidates are encouraged.

Those who meets the above mentioned criteria are requested to submit filled nomination forms to The Director General NACOSTI, or send through mail to Dr. Otwoma David email to otwooma@gmail.com and Wanjala Felix at email feliwanjala@yahoo.com not later than Tuesday 26 APRIL 2016 the application form (using the attached template). 


The ENDORSED APPLICATION FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH PHOTOCOPIES OF THE BSC DEGREE AND UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS. In accordance with established procedures, candidates' applications for this programme will be reviewed by the AFRA High Level Steering for Human Resources Development and Nuclear Knowledge (HLSC). Thereafter, the preselected candidates will be requested to submit their applications for admission directly to the University of Ghana and the University of Alexandria, Egypt which host this training programme as AFRA Regional Designated Centres for Professional and Higher EducatioN
