The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI), is established under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013. It is mandated to regulate and assure quality in the science, technology and innovation sector and advise the government in matters related thereto.
The
role of Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I)
in socio-economic transformation
is well recognized. NACOSTI as the premier body is fully committed to steer scientific advancement and
technological
development in the country.
The generation, dissemination and application of new knowledge
is critical for economic growth. The
Kenya Vision 2030 envisages a
knowledge based economy which
has the capacity to compete
in the global market.This is
highly dependent
on the ability to innovate, adopt and apply the relevant technologies to industries and productive sectors.To achieve this, research and ST&I
will play a pivotal role.
In line with promotion of ST&I and research for national
development, NACOSTI
has been administering the Government
Research Endowment Fund since its inception in 2008/2009 financial year.The purpose of this Fund is
to support scientific research and innovations in
ST&I priority areas to complement the goals of
Vision
2030.The Research Endowment Fund has to
date
supported a
total
of 1,534 research
and innovation projects throughout the
country in both public and private institutions.
In this regard, NACOSTI is
pleased to invite professionals from
public and private sectors to submit copies of their CV, and digital
passport size photos to
update
compilation of a complete database
of peer reviewers of
research proposals. The CV in soft copy should be
submitted through the email reviewers@nacosti.go.ke by 30th September, 2015.
